IGNIS

Even small amounts of electrical energy can significantly improve living conditions. Nevertheless, nearly 1.1 billion people worldwide still lack access to electricity for various reasons. However, all these situations share one common factor: whenever and wherever electricity is unavailable, people rely on fire—for cooking, heating, or at least illuminating the darkness with candlelight.

IGNIS harnesses the heat of these flames and converts it into electricity, providing energy in the form of electric light and a USB output. Therefore, it can simply be placed on a hot stove. In places without a stovetop, the product also works with a device for burning oil.

Typologically, IGNIS is a lantern in its most original sense—a portable light source that can be carried to wherever life takes place. The product offers a way for people to gain independent access to electricity and light—using an energy source that is already available and in daily use.
